Online Banner Ad

Online advertising is the most rapidly evolving and changing segment of the advertising methods. For example, banner advertisement used to be the primary means of online advertisement and general navigation from site to site. However, as new more effect and reliable means of traffic-driving ads on the internet have taken hold and as the consumer have become bogged down with the visual clutter of banner ads, banner ads have become a weak method of driving internet traffic (consumers) to a particular website. This has not rendered banner ads ineffective though.

When developing your business plan, you must understand that banner ads are now used primarily to create brand recognition. This means, you must be trying to sell your brand before you sell you product or service. Some studies suggest that properly used online banner ads can be just as effective as television advertising when trying to create top-of-mind awareness with the client. When you are budgeting for marketing in your business plan you must also calculate that you will need to run the banner ad for long periods of time to get the proper branding affect, just like traditional offline forms of brand building advertisements.

If you are planning to use banner ads to generate traffic you need to do so wisely and understand that you will need to manage these campaigns in detail. You must select sites whose target customer is similar to yours and you must plan to spend money developing an attractive and attention grabbing banner ad. This means that you must add significant amount of money dedicated to corporate identity building and graphic designing to your business plan. Or, depending on the size of you business, you might want to consider hiring a graphic designer/web designer to manage the changes that must take place with these types of ads if you wish to stay on top of the market.

If you plan to use Banner Ads you should be aware of the substantial financial consequences if your campaign is done incorrectly. You must also prepare yourself for an advertising method that's look and use is constantly changing.
